“It is Written makes a unique contribution to our understanding and appreciation of Holy Scripture. Other books on this subject tend to be academic and less accessible for the ordinary reader, and they are usually written from a critical Greek text standpoint, which is accepted without giving readers a fair treatment of the Received Text position. In addition, nothing much helps the reader make sense of the plethora of modern English translations that bewilder Christians today.”
Subjects handled in this book include the inspiration, authority, infallibility, preservation, translation and interpretation of Scripture.
Contributing authors include Malcolm Watts, Matthew Vogan, William McLeod, and Gerald Buss.

Recent decades have seen the arrival of new translations of the Bible, and with them the increasing tendence to use the pronouns ‘you’ and ‘your’ when addressing God.
Is this a healthy updating of a Christianity that is seen as old-fashioned and irrelevant? Or is it a serious departure from timeless principles, both in accuracy of translation and in reverence when praying?
The articles in this book maintain that we are witnessing today a modern Downgrade which is scarcely appreciated by the Lord’s people in their eagerness to be ‘contemporary’.
This booklet first appeared in 1994 and sold out. It has now been updated, enlarged and improved, to make it probably the most comprehensive treatment of this subject available today. A slim paperback of 76 pages

This hardback book of 360 pages comprises 26 articles by Bishop D A Thompson, former chairman of the Bible League Council and editor of the Quarterly from 1961 to 1970. Some of these articles were published in the Quarterly; others appeared in booklets and pamphlets, or are transcribed from addresses he gave. The book opens with a brief history of his life which has been compiled by Rev John Thackway.
The sections of the book are: Biblical and Devotional subjects, Bible Translation, Textual Matters, and Book Reviews.
Bishop Thompson handles everything he takes up with illuminating skill: whether textual criticism, Bible exposition, church history, experiential and practical Christianity, or controversial matters. He wrote in an accessible and devotional way, and his gracious treatment of every subject encourages the reader to share his high view of the Scriptures and the importance of contending for the Faith in our day.
We heartily recommend this book.
